ABOUT PROJECT

Already in 1902, the Riga City Council began discussing a project for the construction of the 2nd Riga City Hospital in Camp Square in Āgenskalns, however, due to lack of funds, the implementation of the project lasted until 1908. The construction of the first hospital building according to the project of the chief architect of the city of Riga Reinhold Schmeling began in 1908 and the hospital with an outpatient clinic, therapeutic and surgical pavilion and three communicable disease pavilions was inaugurated on February 10, 1910. Celebrating the 100th birthday of Stradiņš Hospital, in February 2010, the cornerstone of the hospital's new building was solemnly laid.
