ABOUT PROJECT
The picturesque Bišumuiža was once the summer residence of rich Rigans, later - also an industrial district, after the First World War - a quiet suburb of Riga. Bišumuiža as a settlement began to form in the 18th century by the Bauska road near the small Bišupīte estuary in the Daugava. Bišumuiža first appeared in the city plan as a part of the city in 1828. In 1884, omnibus traffic was opened from Bišumuiža to the center of Riga. In the early 20th century, it was replaced by a tram. In the 19th century, the growth of Bišumuiža was promoted by a thriving industry. At the end of the 19th century, there were 6 factories. There are still streets here that have kept their names for at least a century: Bauska, Maza Bauska, Dole, Bukaiši and Gulbju.
